Just across the bridge, minutes away, is the community of Iona -famously known for having some of the richest Gaelic heritage in Cape Breton, first settled in the early 1800's by MacNeils from the Island of Barra in Scotland.
One of our amazing neighbours is the Wheelhouse Cafe, only a few houses down from The Grand Narrows Vacation Rental. With favourites like Fish & Chips, Pizza, Seafood Chowder, and much more you can't go wrong at the Wheelhouse Cafe.
Also within walking distance is The Barra Strait Marina (which includes boat launch & laundry facilities), a small convenience store, and our local liquor commission store - boasting a fine selection of beer, wine, and spirits
